Bowhunting

Cayoti Safaris strive to make bow hunting in Africa the best opportunity for you to hunt the animals you came for. Hunting is mostly done from pit blinds, but we also have tree stands. Walk and stalk opportunities are also available. Please ensure that your equipment and hunting skills complies with the requirements for hunting in Africa. Further ensure that you are familiar with the anatomy (vitals) of the animals you intend to hunt. Shots will be taken from 20 – 40 yards.

Q: What type of bow should you bring and what draw weight?

A: Any bow that you are comfortable with and have confidence in!!! Draw weight do not have to be 80 pounds for normal plains game, but get something between 60 -80 pounds that you can draw under any situation. We also welcome recurve and long bow hunters, but be sure that a close shot can not be guaranteed.

Broad heads are a very open discussion, and as long as you are sure it will kill the animal you are welcome to use it. Unfortunately as you know wounded animals must be paid in full, and time lost tracking these animals can make the rest of the hunt unpleasant.

When transporting the bow make sure you have a strong and sturdy bow case that can take some hammering. Airport personal worldwide are renowned for their cargo handling, and one doesn't want to open up the bow case and see damage done the bow.

Traveling with a bow is also much easier than with a rifle. No specials permits are required and the bow must only be declared at customs when leaving the airport terminal.
